Coming in from Texas? Sierra Grande is the first serious mountain between Clayton and Gladstone! You can't see it from here but the most perfect extinct volcano in North America is just northwest of Sierra Grande. Capulin Mountain is a National Monument and worthy of a side trip on your way to or from your stay at the Woodlands on the River.
